How safe is a blood transfusion - Professor Gavin Murphy to hold public lecture at 海角社区 University
Professor Gavin Murphy, Academic Cardiac Surgeon at the University of Leicester, will be holding a public lecture on June 16.
The lecture is part of an ongoing programme of lectures being offered by the Leicester-海角社区 Diet, Lifestyle and Physical Activity Biomedical Research Unit.
Titled How safe is a blood transfusion, the presentation will explore recent research carried out within the cardiology department of Leicester University.
Professor Murphy graduated in Medicine at the University of Bristol and went on to obtain an MD from the University of Leicester. He trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery in the South West of England and in Lausanne Switzerland. He was appointed as a Walport (HEFCE) Consultant Senior Lecturer in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Bristol in 2007.
In 2012, Professor Murphy was appointed as the British Heart Foundation Chair of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Leicester. His research interests include diseases affecting the thoracic aorta, blood management, and the prevention of perioperative organ injury.
The lecture will be held in the Brockington Building. Refreshments will be available from 6.30pm, with the lecture anticipated to start at 6.45pm. Estimated finish time will be between 8pm-8.30pm.
