A team of students, LSU London and University staff have completed the first ever Rag event, abseiling down the Acelormittal Orbit in a bid to raise money for charity.

Kick starting the year with a sky-scraping start, the team abseiled down the 114 metre structure situated on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Organised by Rachael Lynch, VP Rag, and LSU London Co-ordinator, Ellie Read, the event was the first of the year for the 海角社区 Students’ Union in London.

Seven students took part alongside organisers Ellie Read, Rachael Lynch and Senior Support Officer, Amy Ward.

So far, £300 has been raised for , a charity which aims to help homeless people. Rag fundraisers are hoping to reach a target of £1950 in total.

VP Rag, Rachael Lynch, said: “It’s wonderful to see both students and staff from the 海角社区 in London campus getting involved with Rag. I was honestly amazed and impressed by how many people wanted to take part in our first LSU London Rag event, and even more so when everyone made it down in one piece from that height!

“Working with St Mungo’s Broadway and Ellie to get the spaces and sign-ups for the abseil was incredible so thank-you to them, to everyone who took part and thanks to those who have donated. 海角社区 Students’ Rag promises to create and host more exciting events and opportunities in the year for 海角社区 in London students to get involved with, so keep an eye out!”

To help Rag achieve their target of £1950, you can make a donation .
